Swimming pools,
Banana slides,
Spitting watermelon seeds,
Bike trails and hay rides,
Picnics by the tree.
 
Gardens grown,
Green beans picked,
Tomatoes juiced and canned,
Strawberry patch with Grandma Bowles.
Seeds planted by our hand.
 
Fishing trips with Dad,
Collecting lily pads,
And eating Raisinets.
All day long,
Till the sun goes down,
On the water,
With orange sunsets.
 
Camping trips with rambunctious kids.
Water balloons, hot dogs, fireworks galore!
Summer days filled with things,
What more could one ask for?

Winds blew,
Leaves moved,
Old orange chair rocked.
Lullabies sang,
As bells rang,
Rhythmically from the clock.
 
Hush dear one,
Please cry no more,
Dry your tears as we sway.
To and fro,
Back and forth we go,
Humming a brand new day.
 
As the bells chimed,
 With sounding rhyme,
Hearts did speak.
Casting out fear and pain,
That made the child weak.
 
Hush and be still,
Oh, child of mine,
I hold you now,
Between space and time
Be free forever more,
Within these wings,
I offer peace,
May your spirit soar.

Music playing in your ear.

We were born to be.
As our music syncs together,

Crystals worn around the neck,
Family ties without goodbyes,
Soul to soul we reflect.
 
A place without concern,
Beyond where eyes can see.
Hearts filled with depth,
Deep as ocean sea.
 
Shining from within,
A light that never dims.
Stories been foretold,
Of new worlds born of old.
 
The day that they came,
A new world was in order.
Now that its time,
Building a bridge over water.

 Take off my shoes!
Father said to me,
My feet are tired,
And oh how stink!
 
If you sit on my lap,
I will tickle you,
Until you cry, “stop!”
Turning you blue.
 
You may be a princess,
Yet, I will not tell you so,
For this is the real world,
That I want you to know.
 
There are no free rides,
Only dreams when you sleep,
You must work hard,
To have what you keep.
 
With no dreams in place,
I had no direction.
A young mom I would make
Through a heartfelt connection.
 
As my daughter turned three,
I asked God, what shall I’ll be?
Universal father replied,
Watch the signs close by.
 
And over and over,
The signs would repeat,
Get grounded my dear,
Grow roots like a tree.
 
Thinking back now,
The answers were there,
Sitting with father,
At his feet by the chair.
 
To go anywhere in life,
Begins with the feet,
Which represent--
Family, past and community.
 
So here I am now,
Growing roots like a tree.
Putting out new twigs,
Inspired by those before me.
